Pen to Print

Pen to Print / The Book Challenge

I had planned a different topic for my second blog post, however, I had some amazing news. A month or so ago I entered the Pen to Print Book Challenge through the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham –  LBBD Book Challenge

Finalists would win a publishing package and individual support from a mentor to help get the novel into a publishable state. The winner gets a tablet pc. I submitted the opening (only) chapter of my novel ‘A Young Man’s Game’, not expecting anything to come of it. After all, I’ve only been writing for less than a year. Well, the awards night was last night, when the finalists would be announced. There were a number of previous finalists from previous years talking about their experience, their novels and their inspirations.

At the end of the night, the finalists were announced. Out of over forty submissions, ten were chosen.

I’m the awkward looking guy second from the right.

Needless to say, I am so excited to have my work selected. I have been given Barbara Nadel (Barbara Nadel (Wiki)) as a mentor, which is amazing as she has had many books published and will be a huge help for my fledgeling career.

Congratulations to all the finalists, I hope you’re all as pleased as me.
